Review: 5 out of 5
During my second read of this book (first review here), I was able to appreciate much better what the crew of the Renegat actually said (and how they said it), including the testimony of Jorja Lakinas, versus what they had agreed to say (though indeed the moment in which they make this pact is not described in the prior installments). This additional knowledge made the holo-clips with Preemas and Crowe more enjoyable as the Renegat-knowledgeable reader knows how the interaction on the other side is going to play out.
In the end, for someone who is such a big fan of ‘JAG’, it’s very difficult to not come into this title liking it. Having read it once a relatively short time ago, I was very keen to give it another go, and it had not lost any of its original lustre. Added to this, Ms Rusch’s attention to detail (although I really have to wonder now, how does she know how so many professions work?) and captivating style kept this novella an interesting read for the second time—and I’m sure I could return again for many more!
