Review: The Tales of Beetle the Bard, J.K. Rowling

Rating: 4 out of 5

There were less stories here than I hoped. Some of them we’ve kind of heard of in the larger Potter universe, but this was a nice throwback to those times — and those adventures. I suppose every reader must have their favourite story here along with the favourite moral; or just a favourite for the characters who took part in it (though no doubt there’s a moral too!). My favourite was Babbity the Rabbit (Story) — a good touch on hubris.

Lastly, the very start of the book where the author described non-wizard fables often touching on magic, and the converse being true was a very thoughtful point to make.
